Green Business Policy

With growing awareness of the global climate crisis, Trillium Dental Clinic is committed to doing its part in protecting our planet’s resources.  To this end, we have made conscious decisions regarding everything from the choice of construction materials used in building our office to the choice of modern dental equipment purchased to the use of office paper products.

A summary of these choices include:

  • Digital x-ray technology reduces your radiation exposure by 95% and completely eliminates use of all chemicals
  • Mercury-free fillings; we use only tooth-colored fillings to create a healthy smile
  • Water filtration (via purified, distilled water) allows for environmentally sound disposal of old fillings & prevents pollution of local water system
  • Tooth whitening procedures utilizing advanced methods (ZOOM whitening) takes less than an hour and minimizes exposure to unnecessary bleaching gels
  • Steam-based, surgical-grade instrument sterilization which contains no harmful chemicals and reduces water use
  • High-efficiency office heating and cooling system
  • Paperless, computerized medical charting with EnergyStar-rated office equipment
  • Online communication system for appointments and questions to minimize paper waste and mailers
  • Use of recyclable and recycled office supplies (if available)
  • Office lighting maximizes use of windows and skylights to minimize energy waste.  Where feasible, we use CFL bulbs
  • Office designed with natural materials: ie. recycled-glass countertops, bamboo shades, granite walling
  • Solar window shades in treatment rooms are made from PVC-free material and are 100% Recyclable.  They cut glare and damaging UV rays while reducing heat transfer from outdoors thus preventing excessive energy used in air-conditioning
